For the month of November, Smashville turns into Stacheville to support the, now popular, movement known as Movember. This program is all about supporting and raising awareness for Prostate Cancer, Testicular Cancer, and men’s mental health initiatives. Many of your favorite Nashville Predators such as Shea Weber, Mike Fisher, Pekka Rinne, and Rich Clune join in the cause by growing a moustache for the month of Movember, and pledge not to shave the stache all month long. In 2013, the Predators raised over $6,000 which was donated to the Movember Foundation. This year we look to increase our goal and raise more money and awareness.

You can support the cause and join the Nashville Predators team or just make a donation in support of your favorite player by visiting moteam.co/nashville-predators.

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke to do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them who helped raise awareness about breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.

Since 2003, the Movember family has raised $559 million, which has funded over 800 programs in 21 different countries. This has all been possible because of the conversations that are started about men’s health diseases through simply rocking a stache.

So Smashville, we challenge you to get involved by growing a stache and become a mo’bro (men) or supporting your fellow mo’bro by becoming a mo’sista (women). Visit moteam.co/nashville-predators to join the Smashville community in rocking a killer stache for the month of Movember, and don’t forget to show everyone your stache style by tweeting us @PredsNHL and @Movember
